Luggage

Luggage that you take with you when travelling by air, is split into carry-on (hand) luggage and checked-in (hold) baggage. Hold baggage is that given in at the desk during check-in, and hand luggage is that taken on to the plane by the passenger. For both, a maximum weight is allowed. Address labels should be applied to both the inside and the outside of your luggage.

We advise you to pack medicines, travel documents and your valuables in your hand luggage. If you are a regular user of medicines, it is advisable to ask your doctor for a ´medical passport´ which explains that these are for your own use; some medicines can be confused with drugs.

Sharp implements, such as scissors, penknives and nail files cannot be taken on board in your hand luggage. An aerosol with, (for example) hair lacquer, a cigarette lighter or barbeque firelighters might not, in the first instance, be thought to be a problem. However, these household/garden articles can be judged as dangerous in an aeroplane.

To be well prepared for the journey and so that there are no unwelcome surprises, see below for more information as regards baggage.
